I didn’t want to make you wait too long, so here’s the first edition of PBgametime’s weekly mailbag. I’ll take questions on high school football, recruiting and any other topic you choose.

The start of fall practice is weeks away, but everybody is already starting to gear up for the start of the season. So we dug into the mailbag and found questions on Dwyer, American Heritage and King’s Academy.

Former Royal Palm Beach High School boys basketball standout Jon Octeus will transfer from Colorado State for his final season of college eligibility and is considering Missouri, Cincinnati and UCLA, his high school coach, Drew Quinn, confirmed Wednesday.

Baseball: Former Park Vista star Trea Turner signs with San Diego Padres

Trea Turner didn’t wait long to make his decision.

After the Park Vista product was selected by the San Diego Padres with the 13th overall pick of the 2014 MLB Draft on June 5, Turner signed with San Diego for $2.9 million on Friday, according to multiple reports. Turner signed above his assigned pick value, which was listed at $2,723,300. [More]
