Just one team in our poll remains unbeaten this week, following losses by Dwyer, Wellington and Jupiter. Top-ranked Palm Beach Gardens moved to 7-0 after earning impressive wins over Jupiter and Palm Beach Central. Pitcher Bailey Whalen tossed a one-hitter with 12 strikeouts against the Warriors and pitched a three-hitter with 13 strikeouts against the Broncos. [More]

American Heritage is the area’s only state champ in 2013. Several other programs put together nice runs, including King’s Academy and Palm Beach Central. West Boca got back to the regional finals despite losing its best pitcher.

LIVE BLOG: American Heritage softball wins a third straight state title

VERO BEACH — American Heritage is a win away from its third consecutive state championship, which would put the Stallions in some elite company. They beat Montverde Academy yesterday to earn the right to play Jacksonville-Bishop Snyder in a rematch of last year’s Class 3A state title game.
