Atlantic star defensive back Antwaine Richardson, a former Michigan commit who missed his senior season due to a torn left ACL, committed to Maryland and plans to enroll early.

“I just like Maryland,” Richardson said. “Maryland is a nice school.”

Richardson, a Palm Beach Post Super 11 pick before the season, announced his new college destination on Twitter Tuesday evening.

Richardson, a three-star recruit, according to 247Sports, had originally planned on enrolling early at Michigan, but decommitted on Jan. 21.

Richardson attributed his interest in Maryland in part to his familiarity with the coaching staff, including new head coach D.J. [More]

With the 2015 football season in the rear-view mirror and the Palm Beach Post All-Area teams published, we thought it would be a good idea to let Palm Beach County football fans decide who they think were the best players in the county this season.

Each day, we’ll narrow the selections down to who we think were five of the top players at each position this past season, and from there, you choose who you believe was the best. You can still vote for the best quarterback here, the county’s best running backs here and the top receivers here.

“I’ve never been out of the state of Florida, so I don’t know how I’d react to the cold,” Phillips said. “(Being close) is a benefit. It’s actually great because now I can have family support. I’m born and raised in Florida, so I know what kind of climate to expect.”
