PALM BEACH GARDENS — For a brief moment Tuesday night, Benjamin trailed Weston-Sagemont. Then, Madison Maxwell stepped behind the line to serve.
The Buccaneers’ junior libero led Benjamin to a three-set (25-15, 25-12, 25-14) victory over Sagemont in the Class 3A regional quarterfinals in Palm Beach Gardens on Tuesday night.
“She’s got a great serve,” Buccaneers coach Alex Clarke said. “She’s very consistent and she’s a leader out there. When you have that consistency along with a tough serve, it’s hard to stop.”

Top-10 wins and losses led to significant movement inside the rankings this week.
After dropping all the way to No. 2, Boca Raton is back in the top spot after a pair of wins. Meanwhile, formerly top-ranked Jupiter drops to third after losing to Martin County while Lake Worth Christian rolled to its 15th straight victory. Atlantic held serve at the fourth spot, but Benjamin jumped from eighth to fifth as other teams moved around it. After another week of matches, the top 10 sees a change at the top.
The Warriors move to the top spot this week after taking down last week’s No. 1, Boca Raton, in five sets. The Bobcats move down a single spot after the close loss to another top team. Lake Worth Christian moves up to No. 3 as it continues to surge, taking the spot from Atlantic, which drops a spot after losing to the Bobcats. American Heritage, Oxbridge, Palm Beach Gardens, Benjamin and Park Vista stick in the top 10, and Wellington re-enters after winning its last two matches.
