Three seasons ago, Boca Raton Christian football was in danger of going under. One of the smallest programs in Florida, the Blazers had 16 players on their roster. A rash of early-season injuries dropped numbers so low they had to postpone and cancel several games.

Martin County stays an uncontested No. 1 in this week’s volleyball Top 10

Martin County has proven its the best team in the area and with another great showing at a tournament, the Tigers are making their case as one of the best in the state. This past weekend at the Tampa Prep Invitational, they ended Tampa Berkeley Prep’s 11-match win streak. Berkeley Prep was ranked the No. 17 team in the country by ESPNRise.

It was a pretty light week for those who weren’t in the Tampa Prep tournament but it’ll be a busy weekend for the local teams involved in the Boca Raton in Invitational Oct. 16, 17.

John Carroll cracks this week’s volleyball Top 10

After winning its bracket two weekends ago at the East Coast Challenge and giving Jensen Beach three close games, John Carroll broke in as No. 10, replacing West Boca Raton, which had a couple of recent losses. Also, Boca Raton Christian has continued its winning ways with just one loss on the season.

There are some good games leading into this weekend’s Palm Beach County Classic. On Tuesday, Boca Raton is at Jupiter, Park Vista is at Royal Palm Beach, and Lake Worth Christian is at Boca Raton Christian. Wellington is at West Boca on Wednesday, and Park Vista goes to Palm Beach Central on Thursday.
