King’s Academy senior guard/forward Brooke Garmon has committed to play basketball for North Georgia College and State University, a Division II program in the Peach Belt Conference. Garmon averaged 21.6 points and 6.6 rebounds per game for the Lions this season. She also holds the school records for career points and points per game, both of which she set her senior season.

The difference was staggering between the length of King’s Academy’s roster compared to that of American Heritage’s when the two played on Friday. American Heritage’s 15 girls could barely fit in the scorebook, while the Lions were carrying a modest six and hoping no one got into foul trouble.

Christina Alessi and Brooke Garmon are getting very close to reaching milestones and it’s not even halfway through basketball season yet.
Garmon has 1,427 career points, just 15 shy of breaking the school record of 1,442, which is held by Tara Russ who went on to play at the University of West Florida. She is also on track to break Janet Meckstroth’s points per game mark of 20.21, which was set in 1977-78.
