Football: Jupiter Christian advances to second round after Hialeah-Champagnat’s appeal denied

Jupiter Christian has officially advanced to the second round of the playoffs.

Hialeah-Champagnat, the Eagles’ first-round opponent, was notified by the Florida High School Athletic Association that it must vacate its playoff spot due to violating one of the FHSAA’s bylaws when it walked off the field and forfeited midway through last week’s regular-season game at Bradenton IMG Academy. The Miami Herald first reported the news.

The Lions appealed the FHSAA’s ruling, but it was denied on Friday morning, according to FHSAA spokesman Corey Sobers. An emergency appeal was heard on Friday at 9 a.m. [More]

Jupiter Christian may have already won its playoff game.
