Week 9 Look Ahead: Inside the new Top 10, plus the top games coming up

Some teams have already clinched playoff spots, but others are still looking to punch their tickets to the postseason.

Six teams from Palm Beach County clinched playoff spots this past week. Wellington is back in the playoffs after beating Seminole Ridge, and Cardinal Newman upset Pahokee to clinch their spot. Take a look at the area’s top Week 9 matchups, which includes the big District 13-7A matchup between Dwyer and Atlantic.

Sunday, October 19

Dwyer has posted an undefeated district record up to this point, but the Panthers still can’t afford a loss in the competitive District 13-7A.

The defending Class 7A state champions will look to continue their dominance of the district in an intriguing matchup with an improved Atlantic team in this week’s Palm Beach Post PBgametime Game of the Week. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. on Friday from Atlantic High.

Weekend Rewind: 4 takeaways from Week 3

Week 3 was rivalry week.

Palm Beach Gardens faced crosstown rival Dwyer. Lake Worth hit the road to take on rival Santaluces. Seminole Ridge hosted rival Park Vista. And Palm Beach Lakes took on Suncoast in the “Soul Bowl.”

FAU gets commitments from Seminole Ridge DB Jalen Young, PB Gardens ATH J’Quan Napier

Florida Atlantic already received a verbal commitment from one of Palm Beach County’s top 2015 prospects in May. This week, the Owls received three more.

Seminole Ridge defensive back Jalen Young verbally committed to FAU, choosing the Owls over schools like Miami, Boston College and Louisville on Thursday night. Palm Beach Gardens athlete J’Quan Napier followed Young’s lead and verbally committed to FAU on Friday morning.

Young and Napier join Seminole Ridge running back Kerrith Whyte, who verbally committed to the Owls on Monday.

The trio is now part of FAU’s 2015 recruiting class, along with three-star Dwyer quarterback Daniel Parr. Parr [More]
