Dwyer defensive end Curt Maggitt had surgery to repair a torn left labrum on Jan. 29. His coach, Jack Daniels, held him out of the team’s spring practices as a precaution, forcing the 6-foot-4, 210-pound Maggitt to miss Dwyer’s spring game against Palm Bay, a 26-18 loss.
But, while he’s still doing some routine physical therapy, Maggitt is now ready to go. [More]

Treasure Coast defensive back Keelin Smith and Fort Pierce Central defensive end Giorgio Newberry have committed to play in the 2011 Under Armour All-America Game, ESPN reported on its website.

The Kirk Herbstreit Varsity Football series will span two days, two cities and involve 16 of the nation’s best high school teams. Two South Florida schools have accepted invitations: Dwyer and Fort Lauderdale-St. Thomas Aquinas.
