One member of Atlantic’s talented backfield decided to stay close to home when he goes to college.
Senior athlete Shawndarrius Phillips, who was a finalist for the Lou Groza Palm Beach County Player of the Year Award, announced he had committed to Florida International on Thursday morning.
“I’ve never been out of the state of Florida, so I don’t know how I’d react to the cold,” Phillips said. “(Being close) is a benefit. It’s actually great because now I can have family support. I’m born and raised in Florida, so I know what kind of climate to expect.”
