Why is Miami having so much success recruiting in Palm Beach County these days? (If you have the answer to this question, vote in our poll at the bottom of this page.)

“It’s close to home,” Wellington wide receiver Ahmmon Richards said. “That’s what I think it is.”

But Miami has always been a relatively short drive from Palm Beach County. So, what has changed? [More]

2016 Big Board breakdown: No. 2, Zach McCloud

Zach McCloud

Each weekday leading up to the start of spring practice, we’ll release a new player from the top 10 of our Class of 2016 Big Board and break down his game with an interactive graphic. Today, it’s No. 2, Zach McCloud, a linebacker at Santaluces.

This guy is a flat-out playmaker. He’s stellar against the run and he can cover backs and tight ends, too. But McCloud does his best work when he’s able to square up and hit somebody. You won’t find many linebackers who hit harder than McCloud.

2016 Big Board breakdown: No. 6, Travis Homer

  • 6:00 am Friday, April 17th, 2015 by Anthony Chiang

Each weekday leading up to the start of spring practice, we’ll release a new player from the top 10 of our Class of 2016 Big Board and break down his game with an interactive graphic. Today, it’s No. 6, Travis Homer, a running back at Oxbridge Academy.

With Homer’s mixture of strength and speed, his skill set has started to attract BCS programs. But some still wonder if he can put up big numbers against tough competition after Oxbridge Academy played in independent leagues the past two seasons. 2016 Big Board breakdown: No. 9, Ja’kevious Vickers

  • 6:00 am Tuesday, April 14th, 2015 by Jodie Wagner

Each weekday leading up to the start of spring practice, we’ll release a new player from the top 10 of our Class of 2016 Big Board and break down his game with an interactive graphic. Today, it’s No. 9, Ja’kevious Vickers, a running back at Glades Central.

Vickers was one of the area’s top running backs last season despite having limited experience at the position. A converted safety/linebacker, the 5-foot-11, 195-pound Vickers rushed for more than 1,000 yards and played a key role in leading the revitalized Raiders to the regional finals.

2016 Big Board breakdown: No. 10 Da’Von Brown

  • 6:00 am Monday, April 13th, 2015 by Anthony Chiang

Each weekday leading up to the start of spring practice, we’ll release a new player from the top 10 of our Class of 2016 Big Board and break down his game with an interactive graphic. Today, it’s No. 10, Da’Von Brown, a cornerback at Royal Palm Beach.

It’s hard to find high school cornerbacks with better man-to-man coverage skills than Brown. Despite being 5-foot-11, he’s one of the most physical cornerbacks in Palm Beach County. Don’t be surprised to see Brown begin to draw big offers before the start of his senior season.
