Football: Glades Day, seven-time state champions, leaving Class 2A for Southeastern Football Conference

Glades Day, a perennial state power among small-school football teams, will leave the Florida High School Athletic Association for the 2016 season, athletics director Mike Underwood confirmed Thursday.
The Gators, who have won seven state titles in football, will compete in the Southeastern Football Conference next season, as first reported by FloridaHSFootball.com. Glades Day spent the last four seasons in Class 2A.
The school attributed the move to a lack of available FHSAA teams to schedule.

Atlantic moved up a spot, and American Heritage, Dwyer and Pahokee maintained their positions in the Associated Press state football poll that was released Tuesday.
The Eagles, who hold the top spot in the Post’s Top 10, moved up one spot to No. 4 in Class 8A. The Panthers held their No. 2 spot from a week ago, trailing only powerhouse Fort Lauderdale-St. Thomas Aquinas. In Class 3A, the Stallions stuck at No. 4.
