Spanish River girls’ volleyball coach Karen Adams wants to make one thing clear: The Sharks’ 14-13 record isn’t exactly a fair representation of her team.
“We didn’t have four or five of our key players at (early-season tournaments),” Adams said. “I mean, eight of those losses came at those tournaments.”
Now that Spanish River has returned to full health and power, Adams said her team is where it should be: in the regional quarterfinals. The Sharks host Davie-Nova on Wednesday in the Class 5A regional quarterfinals at 6 p.m.

Roxi Bradway has resigned as Spanish River’s volleyball coach after five seasons of leading the Sharks. Assistant coach Karen Adams will take over as head coach. In her five seasons, Bradway took the Sharks to the state tournament in 2006, the regional finals in 2005 and 2007, the regional semifinals in 2009 and the regional quarterfinals in 2008.
“I am moving to Fort Myers to begin a family and the next phase of my life, but I cherish my years at River and will miss my athletes tremendously,” Bradway said in an e-mail, adding that she will not be coaching in [More]
