Week 7 saw most of the top teams in the area cruise to victory, but a shakeup is in order at the end of the top 10 this week.
Big wins were the theme for much of the top 10. No. 1 Atlantic, No. 3 Oxbridge, No. 4 Boca Raton, No. 5 American Heritage and No. 6 Pahokee won by an average of 31 points. Atlantic moved up a spot, and American Heritage, Dwyer and Pahokee maintained their positions in the Associated Press state football poll that was released Tuesday.
The Eagles, who hold the top spot in the Post’s Top 10, moved up one spot to No. 4 in Class 8A. The Panthers held their No. 2 spot from a week ago, trailing only powerhouse Fort Lauderdale-St. Thomas Aquinas. In Class 3A, the Stallions stuck at No. 4. The Blue Devils held on to the No 3 spot in Class 1A, as well.

Week 5 seemed to be the week of the blowout. Only six area games were settled by a touchdown or less, with 14 having a score differential of 10 points or more.
The top five teams all took care of business Friday night, winning by an average of more than 23 points. No. 5 Boca Raton won by the biggest margin, defeating Santaluces 41 points while shutting out the Chiefs. Florida is the most fertile ground for top high school running backs, according to Rivals.com.
The recruiting website released a breakdown of what states its five-star running backs have hailed from since they started ranking players for the Class of 2002. Florida had the most of any state with 13. California and Texas tied for second with nine each.
