Spring football schedule preview: five matchups to watch in Palm Beach County

Palm Beach County knows only one season: football season.

Spring practices are in full swing and area football teams are gearing up for their spring games at the end of this month. Here are the details and a preview of what’s to come.

Baseball: Rain washes away Santaluces Slam finals

Baseball season and rainy season decided to hit Palm Beach County at the same time.

Friday’s games at the season-opening Santaluces Slam have been postponed, Santaluces coach Nick Franco said.

Rain forced the postponement of Thursday’s games at the eight-team tournament, pushing them to Friday. With those games now being play Saturday, the tournament will forgo its finals.

The tournament will now conclude Saturday. The schedule is:

12 p.m.

Field 3: Atlantic vs. Trinity Christian
Field 4: American Heritage vs. King’s Academy

2:30 p.m.

Field 3: Palm Beach Central vs. Summit Christian
Field 4: Jupiter vs. Santaluces

Former Palm Beach Central wrestler, son of ex-NFL player, accused of burglarizing home in Royal Palm

A former Palm Beach Central High School wrestler, and the son of a two-time Super Bowl winner, is in custody today after authorities say he burglarized a local home.

Tyrone Carter Jr., of Royal Palm Beach, was arrested and booked into the Palm Beach County Jail Tuesday on larceny and burglary charges.
