Park Vista isn’t just one of the best baseball teams in Palm Beach County. The Cobras are one of the best teams in the country.
Park Vista (4-1) is No. 4 in the MaxPreps Top 100 National Baseball Rankings, which was released Monday. The Cobras’ only loss of the season came against Coral Springs-Taravella in the season opener. [More]

It’s hard to believe, but high school baseball season is almost here.
The 2015 MaxPreps Preseason All-American baseball team was released Tuesday morning and one local player made the list.
Park Vista senior pitcher Austin Smith was one of five players from Florida to make the 30-man roster. The 6-foot-4 right-hander recorded a 12-1 record to go along with a 0.36 ERA last season and was named the Palm Beach Post’s 2014 Large Schools Baseball Player of the Year. [More]

Park Vista’s Austin Smith is following up a stellar junior season with a pretty special offseason.
The Palm Beach Post’s 2014 Large Schools Player of the Year was named to the 20-man roster for the 2014 18U National Team, which will compete in the COPABE Pan American Championship in Mexico in September.
Smith is the only player from Palm Beach County on the roster. Only three players from Florida made the team.

Trea Turner didn’t wait long to make his decision.
After the Park Vista product was selected by the San Diego Padres with the 13th overall pick of the 2014 MLB Draft on June 5, Turner signed with San Diego for $2.9 million on Friday, according to multiple reports. Turner signed above his assigned pick value, which was listed at $2,723,300. [More]

Trea Turner was projected to be a first-round pick in the MLB Draft, but he still didn’t know what to expect.
However, the Park Vista product didn’t have to wait long to hear his name, as the San Diego Padres drafted the 6-foot-1, 170-pound shortstop with 13th overall pick Thursday. Turner was the first player from Palm Beach County taken in this year’s draft.
