In the 2009 regular season, only four area running backs had more than Taylor’s 149 carries. His workload spiked sharply in the playoffs, when he ran 146 times in just four games.
He was productive (1,439 yards and 28 touchdowns in the regular season, 1,158 and 19 in the post-season), but there has to be concern about his mileage given that Glades Day needs him healthy for three more seasons.

With high-profile football players transferring every off-season, it’s easy to see why so much speculation surrounds the future of Glades Day freshman Kelvin Taylor.

From the opening snap to the final play of the game, the night belonged to Glades Day running back Kelvin Taylor.
Taylor dominated Jupiter Christian’s defense and raced into the end zone for the game-winning two-point conversion as Glades Day beat the Eagles 45-44 in the Class 1B regional finals at Port St. Lucie High.

No matter what happens at Glades Day, the Gators are going to be a competitive small-school team as long as they have a healthy Kelvin Taylor in the backfield. But if they want to win a state title during Taylor’s remaining four years, the Gators have to stop letting opposing running backs impersonate him.
