Andy Siegal named Boynton Beach’s new football coach, athletic director

With the retirement of Rick Swain, Boynton Beach lost a football coach and athletic director that had 41 years of coaching experience.

But the Tigers gained some of that experience back with the hiring of longtime football coach Andy Siegal this week. Siegal confirmed reports Tuesday that he was named Swain’s replacement as Boynton Beach’s head coach and athletic director. [More]

Football: Finalists released for Lou Groza Awards ceremony

With the high school football playoffs beginning this week, the awards season is not too far away.

The Lou Groza Awards ceremony is one of the highlights of the awards season. The annual banquet will be held on Dec. 9 at the Kravis Center.

Along with the Lou Groza Award, which is given to the best collegiate placekicker in the country, the banquet celebrates the top high school players, coaches, teams and place-kickers in Palm Beach County. Finalists were selected by a panel of local representatives of the Palm Beach County high school football community, including head coaches and local media representatives. [More]

Boynton Beach AD, football coach Rick Swain to retire at end of season

Rick Swain is ready to call it a career.

After 41 years of coaching, the 63-year-old Boynton Beach head football coach and athletic director has decided he will retire after the 2014 football season. Next year will mark Swain’s seventh season at the school. The news was first reported by ESPN 106.3.

“My wife is already retired and I feel like I’ve done everything I could do at Boynton Beach,” Swain said. “I came in and realized I had a rough road ahead of me trying to change the football mentality and culture, and I think we’ve done that.”
