Softball: Dwyer names teacher, alum Melanie Lott as new head coach

Dwyer softball is one of the more successful programs in Palm Beach County. The Panthers had great success under former coach Joe DellaRocca, who resigned two weeks ago Monday.

Well, now Dwyer has a new person holding the reins.

Winning the Class 6A championship for the fourth time in seven years usually makes you look pretty good. Winning a second in a row helps, too.

Dwyer softball coach Joe DellaRocca resigned from his position today, Dwyer athletic director Tom Pagley confirmed.


Softball: Schedule for regional semifinals updated

There were a few surprises in the regional quarterfinals — namely Park Vista, one of the top teams in the state, losing a marathon battle with Parkland-Douglas. As Palm Beach Gardens pitcher Shelby Turnier said Wednesday night, “Anything can happen — it’s the playoffs.”

But now we’re moving on to the regional semis. Here’s the full schedule for area teams.
