FHSAA Board votes to restructure baseball, competitive cheerleading state series

The Florida High School Athletic Association Board of Directors voted on Monday to eliminate the best-of-three format of the region baseball final. The two-year experiment of the format was in its second year this past season. The FHSAA received feedback that it was a strain on athletic budgets and fans when the series went to three games, thereby forcing a second day for the region final.

There also will be a qualifying round for state competitive cheer and divisions based on school enrollment, while still keeping tumbling and non-tumbling competition in tact. The state championship was previously open to any teams who wanted to participate.
