Cardinal Newman, Jupiter hope to name new head football coaches soon

With less than three weeks remaining until the start of spring football practice on April 27, Cardinal Newman and Jupiter are still without head football coaches.

But both programs are hoping to make a hire before then.

Cardinal Newman athletic director Jason Carlstrom said the school has received more than 100 applications for the position and hopes to name a new head coach before the start of spring practice. Jupiter athletic director Mike DeLeonardo said the school has already narrowed down its list to 15 candidates and expects to name a new head coach next week. [More]

Steve Walsh to leave Cardinal Newman for Director of Football position at IMG Academy

It’s no secret that Steve Walsh has high aspirations for himself.

Walsh interviewed for the Cleveland Browns open quarterbacks coach position in January, but he didn’t get the job. However, he has found a new home at Bradenton-IMG Academy.

After six seasons as the head football coach at Cardinal Newman, Walsh was named the Director of Football at IMG Academy on Monday. [More]
